The biggest misconception of all around A Course In Miracles teachers:

To think that a teacher of God is someone who teaches what A Course In Miracles means, instead of practicing and learning the lessons within a wholy relationship between two people.

This is where Kenneth Wapnick and other famous ACIM gurus, writing books, giving talks, comparing A Course In Miracles to different philosophies and building their careers and enterprises around being a teacher of the course, have gone very wrong.

Ken Wapnick Teaching a self study course.

Benedict Groeschel with Roman Catholic child trafficker, Nobel Prize Winner and saint "Mother Theresa" whom by the way Mr Wapnick met on several occasions and also appears in his Catholic influenced "detailed answer"1387 question Q&A.

The Wapnick Teachings

As Jesus says in the course:

"The ego will demand many answers this course does not give.
It does not recognize as questions the mere form of a question to which an answer is impossible. The ego may ask, ʺHow did the impossible occur?ʺ, ʺTo what did the impossible happen?ʺ, and may ask in many forms. Yet there is no answer; only an experience.
Seek only this, and do not let theology delay you."

Yet, Ken Wapnick wrote over 30 books, mostly dealing with ACIM and also together with his Catholic "friends, scholars and theologicans" edited and supervised a 1285 pages Q&A (about the same number of pages as the FIP version of ACIM) dealing a LOT with Catholiscism, even stating that there would be no problem practicing Catholiscism and ACIM (and promoting his own books).

Kenneth Wapnick, although he rarily mentioned it, was himself according to his friend Benedict Groeschel "a devout Catholic", baptised in 1972 being spiritual influenced by Trappist monk Thomas Merton (who in the Catholic philosophical tradition, also him, wrote over 50 books in which he promotes the Jesuit "Spiritual Exercises". Quotes from his lecture book "A Course In Christian Mysticism: "Martyrdom is a Second Baptism", "Martyrdom is the Crown of the Eucharistic Life", "Martyrdom is a Gift of God".

Kenneth Wapnick also initiated the project that lead to a book called "A Course in Miracles and Christianity - A dialogue co-written with his friend Jesuit priest Norris Clarke

Jesus says:
”This is not a course in theoretical philosophy, nor is it concerned with precise terminology in connection with origins. It is concerned only with Atonement, or the correction of perception.”

”All terms are potentially controversial, and those who seek controversy will find it. Yet those who seek clarification will find it as well. They must, however, be willing to overlook controversy, recognizing that it is a defense against truth in the form of a delaying maneuver.”

Urtext Volume IV Use of Terms

Now, most reading what Jesus says about the ego thought system venerating sacrifice, relics, death, idols and martyrdom in A Course In Miracles, should know that it is the Roman Catholic Church Jesus is talking about (sometimes in a more poetic language).

Ken was introduced to the course by Fr Groeschel. He read it and suggested further editing. He then took over the editors role and took on the role as the courses "First Teacher". He oversaw the translation into 27 languages, wrote over 30 books and built a whole teching center around ACIM. In addition to that, he managed to sue others teaching and spreading the words of Jesus. Guided by the holy spirit?

Gary R Renard (see below) claims in his books that Kenneth was enlightened, yet he died of Cancer. Sickness,  according to Jesus, is the sign of a guilty mind and identification with the body and not spirit. To put it bluntly:
not walking the talk.

"Be kind"

In his Copyrighted book Absence from Felicity Ken included earlier unpublished texts taken down by Helen from Jesus although the United States Copyright Office ordered that words from a Divine Being such as Jesus cannot be copyrighted.

Gary R Renard, best selling writer on ACIM also states God doesn't know we are here. His spirit guides are allegedly ascended disciples of Jesus claiming people soon will walk on Mars, that the nuclear threat isn't over, that climate change and the corona virus is real...
Ken Wapnick was the first to read Garys first book and it is the only writer or teacher apart from himself, that he promotes. Gary promotes Ken Wapnick's  teachings in his books and his guides says "Kenneth will be The Teacher of ACIM for thousands of years..".
Mr Renard's teaching style resembles stand up comedy spiced with sex jokes and his longing to live in Hawaii.

So, how come then that Kenneth Wapnick showed up and got himself into the inner circle around the editing and publishing  of A Course In Miracles?

And how come, the by Jesus appointed editor, Bill Thetford left the scene after Kenneth had entered?

And above all, why did Kenneth Wapnick and Helen Schucman (the scribe of the course) edit out 60.000 words from the original manuscript to publish as the
FIP version?

Why did they remove so much of the important passages, even the one Jesus had specifically told Helen and Bill during the scribing? As Jesus said:

"I want to finish the instructions about sex, because this is an area the miracle worker MUST understand."

So, why did they? Here it is extra clear that they were not guided by the holy spirit just like they were not in the rest of the editing.

The Wapnick/FIP Q&A does also not reflect any of the answers that ARE present in the original manuscripts? (He read them, after all, they were kept in a safe in his closet after Helens passing).

There are some MAJOR answers on topics apart from the instructions about sex that are central in the course, that are withheld from the students:

- Questions about sexual orientation are not answered in accord with the original where Jesus clearly states that: "Homo-sex is sinful (only) to the extent it is based on the principle of exclusion. Everybody should love everybody. It is wrong to deny the beauty of some souls because of body-structures of which you are afraid."

- Another VERY important statement in the Wapnick Q&A is that
"God doesn't even know we are here", which, if it were true, would be a very scary thought! In the original manuscript Jesus says:

"You should live so that God is free to arrange temporary human constellations as He sees fit".

- In the Q&A it is also stated that Jesus is not concerned with our words or actions. Jesus would not agree as He calls to the

GREAT CRUSADE; "Listen, Learn and DO"

- Listen to My Voice, Learn to undo the error and DO something to correct it... The real members of my party are ACTIVE workers.

The Q&A  also states: "God does not speak words to us in the dream, nor does He “hear our prayers.

Jesus: "The secret of true prayer is to forget the things you think you need. To ask for the specific is much the same as to look on sin and then forgive it. Also in the same way, in prayer you overlook your specific needs as you see them, and let them go into His hands. There they become your gifts to Him, for they tell Him that you would have no gods before Him; no Love but His". ACIM, Song of prayer

The FIP version has here even changed gods (both biblical and original Jesus dictation) to 'Gods'.

One of the most misleading claims according to Wapnick in his conversation with Jesuit Norris Clarke:
The goal of the course is "the experience of peace here within the dream".
According to A Course In Miracles The goal is Heaven -to finally escape the ego world of illusions and return home to our Father in our eternal state, as spirits.

As Dough Thomson the editor of the most complete version of ACIM says:

"This is serious". When someone interferes with Gods Plan for Salvation and our fastest escape from this dream of illusions

Below an excerpt from Ken Wapnicks book Abcense from Felicity full of damage control (after all the controverses surrounding the FPI handling of ACIM) and examples of some of the ego traits Jesus adresses in A Course In Miracles;

With Thanks was a poem of gratitude Helen had written for me, while The Gift came at Christmas, when I again managed to convince her not to buy me a gift, but to write me a poem instead. And finally there was Continuity. I forget the exact circumstances, but I think it came as a result of discussions Helen and I had about A Course in Miracles’ life in the world, what Bill on occasion referred to as "Miracles Mischagass.” Although in print less than a year, it was already clear, as I discussed earlier, how people were seizing the Course for themselves, using it as a means for self-aggrandizement, both psychologically as well as financially. Many students, in fact began to set themselves up as teachers, passing themselves off as representatives of the Course’s holiness and wisdom, without any real understanding of what the Course was saying. None of this pleased Helen, although as I mentioned before, she was not in a position to do anything about it. I recall being asked by Jesus to quote to Helen from the biblical Acts of the Apostles. The scene is where a number of the Jews are complaining to Rabbi Gamaliel about the miraculous and preaching activities of Peter and the other disciples. Gamaliel, the renowned rabbi who was St. Paul’s teacher, wisely answered their concerns in this way:

Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it. (Acts 5:38-39).

The point was to reassure Helen that what was happening with the Course was “the work ... of men,” not “of God,” and so Helen need not be concerned about it. The fulfillment of the Course’s role in the world was guaranteed by Jesus.

The Wapnick Teachings

The special relationship* between Ken Wapnick and Helen is obvious,  as the original editor Bill Thetford wrote in his biography: "there was a lot of spiritual grandiosity going on" (hence he left the scene).

Then there is the most beautiful part the THE GIFTS OF GOD** which Helen took down from Jesus which Kenneth clearly states in his writings was ment to be included in the course. So why wasn't it? And how come a lot of it is included in Kenneths own book
Absence from Felicity when words from a Divine Being cannot be copyrighted?

And why did Kenneth Wapnick for years, keep milking Jesus for poetry and even had the nerve to act like some literature critique analyzing the poems instead of focusing on his only function here? To do GODS WILL and undo his ego?

To get as much essence of the course and also take part of the most loving, sane and mature mind you will even encounter as  Jesus communicates with the scribes, study:

This is another more inclusive version and contains lot's of text omitted in the FIP version, but does not contain THE GIFTS OF GOD.

This is the FIP version or "the Kenneth Wapnick edition", as some call it, heavily edited and sanatized from A LOT of important information as well as Jesus' beautiful personality and wit.

It does not contain THE GIFTS OF GOD
It doesn't either feature the term "Spiritual Eye" Jesus originally dictated, but instead uses "holy spirit" and "spiritual vision".

The FIP version is still used, all across the world - in all 27 translations, but the text  is dense  and makes the Course unnecessarily hard to break into in this dry edition and not at all filled the with the passionate Jesus found in the Urtext.

The last part of the books in A COURSE IN MIRACLES
Poems by Jesus, taken down by Helen Schucman.
